Learning difficulties audit DVD
Experiences from the 2007 national audit of specialist inpatient healthcare services for people with learning difficulties
In 2007 we carried out an audit of the healthcare organisations that provide inpatient services for thousands of people with learning difficulties in England.
To accompany the audit report we have produced a DVD showing some of the peer reviewers who took part in the audit talking about the services they visited. The film focuses on peoples' rights and wellbeing, the quality of care they receive and the daily lives they lead. It also shows examples of services in action.
How to order the DVD
If you would like a copy of the DVD please contact the Healthcare Commission helpline at feedback@healthcarecommission.org.uk or on 0845 601 3012.

My choices
We wanted to find out if people are supported to make everyday choices, and being actively listened to in order to make them.
My rights
We wanted to see if people have access to an advocate, if their care plans are person-centred, and how effective they are.
My day
We wanted to find out about peoples' daily lives, what activities they do and how far they're supported to be active members of their local community.
Me and others
We wanted to understand how people with learning difficulties are helped to maintain links with family and friends and their relationships with members of staff.
My wellbeing
We wanted to look at the environment provided in services, and to see if staff understand appropriate intervention, and how to make sure people are safe.
